  1. Hello I had recently started Aikido in Concord, unfortunately he closed. I was studying Aikido and Kendo for a month. Where are you meeting and are beginners allowed to wear the Hakama? My Sensei let us wear.

    • Hi Jim,

We are currently meeting at 5357 Ruth Drive, in East Charlotte. (The yard belongs to a couple of our students.) We are in the process of building out a space for indoor practice and hope to be able to move in there by early October.

Beginners are allowed to wear a hakama if they have one, though while we’re practicing outdoors we just wear seasonally appropriate street clothes.

If you would like more information or directions to the outdoor practice site, please feel free to email us at charlotteaikikai@yahoo.com.

      Looking forward to meeting you.

      Charlie Huff
      Chief Instructor, Charlotte Aikikai

      • Thank you for the information I have one more question it says on Saturday you have weapons class does this mean you’re teaching defense against weapons or actual weapons themselves if so which ones? Thank you again and thanks in advance.
